ACNPs on a Neuroscience unit

- Outcomes studied on a Nueroscience unit compared outcomes in patients who had ACNPs collaborate with physicians in their care versus treatment by physicians only. Results there were no differences in readmission rates between the two groups. Costs where significantly reduced in the ACNP group resulting in a one year savings of $2,467,328.00. The groups in the ACNP groups had fewer UTIs, lower incidence of skin breakdown and were associated with earlier removal of Foley catheters and earlier patient mobilization (Russell et al., 2002)
